Disability Cup

South East Regional Disability Cup

The finals took place at Meadowbank Football Ground

On the 9th of July, Surrey FA was proud to host the finals of the South East Regional Disability Cup at Meadowbank for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hosting five different teams, Sutton United, Sussex, MK Dons, Slough Town and Chelsea had won local qualifying rounds to make it to finals day, where the teams from across the South East competed in a round-robin style tournament.

The event was full of competitive matches seeing some close games throughout. However, it was Sutton United who came out as worthy champions as they won all their games and accumulated an impressive 12 points.

In addition to the players, Meadowbank welcomed supporters to cheer on their teams and add to the atmosphere on the day.

Surrey FA Disability Football Ambassador was in attendance and had the following to say:

“It was a real pleasure to be part of the South East 11 v 11 Disability Cup. The tournament was played in an amazing spirit and represented everything that is great about football. The hard work shown by the players and officials, as well as the teamwork and friendship on display, made for a very enjoyable afternoon. Roll on next season!”
