Martin Tyler Helps Draw Senior Cup 2nd Round

The Second Round draw of the Specsavers Surrey Senior Cup took place this morning, 7th December, at BBC Surrey.

Surrey FA Ambassador Martin Tyler was joined by BBC Surrey Breakfast host James Cannon, and Lateef Iqbal of our headline sponsor Specsavers to draw the 8 ties.

To watch the draw in full, please click here and head to the BBC Surrey Facebook page.

The full draw is as follows:

Leatherhead v Kingstonian

Epsom & Ewell v Merstham

Farnham Town v Met Police

Westfield v Colliers Wood United

Spelthorne Sports v South Park

Suttton United v Molesey

Chipstead v Tooting & Mitcham

Dorking Wanderers v Carshalton Athletic

So, how do they match up?

After Woking suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Chipstead last night, Sutton United now stand as the only National League team in the competition, and will be favourites now to win their 16th Senior Cup, and draw level with all time holders Dulwich Hamlet. The U's will take on Molesey, who currently sit in 21st place of the Bostik South.

Leatherhead will take on fellow Bostik Premier team Kingstonian. Given their current groundsharing situation, it might not be the most exciting draw for the pair, but the game itself will likely be a fiery one as ever.

Chipstead's prize for overturning Woking is a home tie to Tooting & Mitcham United, who sit one league above them in the Bostik Premier.

There'll be a few familiar faces in the Combined Counties League, as CCL Premier league leaders Westfield will take on Colliers Wood United,  whilst Spelthorne Sports and South Park will also meet.

Dorking Wanderers will host Carshalton Athletic, who they will know well having played three times last season. Wanderers may see this season as a real chance for them to win the tournament, having not done so before, whereas The Robins currently have 3 cup wins to their name.

Epsom & Ewell, who sit bottom of the CCL Premier League, will welcome Merstham to High Road. The Moatsiders, who have enjoyed good success in this tournament in recent years, will be a tough opponent for The Salts, who will have to be at their very best to advance. Epsom's first, and only SSC win, came in 1981, beating Woking 2-1 at Sandy Lane, Mitcham.

Finally, Farnham Town's victory over Whyteleafe in the last round has handed them a tie against Bostik Premier team Met Police, who've recently been in fine form in the league. Met Police, who have already overcome Knaphill and Croydon Athletic so far, will be hopeful of repeating their success in 2014/15, where they won the tournament with a 2-0 win over Merstham.

All ties will be played by the second week of January, and will be confirmed by the clubs in due course. For more, head to our designated Cups section of the website.
