Meadowbank Construction Work

From 13th February, essential building work will be carried out at Meadowbank Football Ground to increase the capacity to meet the ground grading requirements for the Vanarama National League South.

The proposed work will see the construction of an additional three turnstiles for safer access to the site, removal of an existing covered “standing” stand, casting of a new raft slab, amendment of below-ground drainage, installation of a new covered “seated” stand and a new “standing” stand in addition to the provision of fan segregation.

There is likely to be some disruption to normal services around the site. However, the pitch, changing rooms, café facilities and footballing activities should not be disrupted as a result of the work.

 Anticipated dates of disruption:

04/03/2020: Increased levels of noise on site due to the use of heavy machinery.

Following government, DCMS and The FA guidance on a safe return to football, we will soft open Meadowbank Football Ground on the 6th July. We need to prepare the site for staff and users and as such will have contractors and staff onsite from the 4th July. The works are internal, apart from a sweep of the pitch and clearing of surrounds, so we anticipate no real disruption.

From the 6th July, we will run three sessions a night on a Monday and Wednesday from 5-9pm. This will enable us to continue to work on the best and safest way to run coaching sessions and allow a ladies team to start training ahead of the start of their season. This will be done in conjunction with a partner of ours.

Then from the 28th July, we anticipate DWFC to start using the facility on a Tuesday and Thursday. Their session normally runs from 6-10pm and we are working with them to see how much of this session will actually be used. Local residents will be informed when the full details are clear.

That is all the football we expect to see on the pitch ahead of a potential start to the season in August/September. If that does go ahead we would expect that we would start to re-open more of the sessions on the site under COVID-19 guidelines.
