Referee Courses on offer in Surrey FA

Referee in Futsal

This course provides a qualification that enables successful candidates to officiate in Futsal, FIFA’s version of the Small Sided Game. The course is 10 hours duration spread over a number of sessions with an examination at the end.

The course includes both theory and practical training sessions and successful candidates will receive a certificate and Futsal Badge. This qualification is specific to Futsal only and does not enable you to officiate in other forms of football although it would give a sound basis to progress to other courses.

Referee in Mini Soccer

This course does not provide a refereeing qualification but outlines the philosophy of mini-soccer and the importance of understanding the needs of children in football. The course covers the role of the Referee in mini-soccer and the Laws of mini-soccer.
The course is 3 hours duration, normally held over one session with no examination. Candidates will receive an attendance certificate and will be valid for two years.

Referee in Small Sided Football

This course is designed for people interested in refereeing 5, 6 or 7 a-side football but not Futsal or Mini Soccer as previously mentioned.

The course is 10 hours duration spread over a number of sessions with both a written and oral examination at the end. The course includes both theory and practical training sessions and enables successful candidates to officiate in Small Sided Football and will receive a certificate and Small Sided Football Badge.

This qualification is specific to Small Sided Football only and does not enable you to officiate in other forms of football although it would give a sound basis to progress to other courses.

Referee 11-a-side Football including

o Women’s/girls football
o Youth football
o Disability football

Local circumstances affect both the type and length of training required to prepare a candidate for examination and registration as a Referee.

This modular based course is followed after a pre course study with a minimum of 16 hours duration with a written and a theory based examination (or practically based if a Practical course) at the end of the course.

The course is delivered in the following formats:
· Spread over a number of weeks
· Weekend Course
· Practical Course

Candidates passing the teaching and examination modules will receive an FA Certificate after completion of a minimum of six 11 a side games and an In-service Training course. Candidates will qualify as an FA Registered Referee. Further modules are available in order to referee in disability football

Gain further knowledge of the laws of the game as general interest

This course is intended for participants who are studying for a qualification or are interested in enhancing their knowledge of the Laws for their personal interest.

The course is normally held over two evenings Candidates will receive an FA Certificate of attendance

Please remember that all candidates enrolling on the FA 11 a side, FUTSAL, Small Sided Referee training courses, except for Mini Soccer and Laws of Association Football are required to attend an FA Safe Guarding Children Best Practice Workshop and complete a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Disclosure check.
