U18 Youth Cup Final

Penn and Tylers Green win Thorpe Park U18 Youth Cup

After beating Chipstead FC 5-1 on Tuesday 7th May

Moore shines for Penn & Tylers Green U17 Reds in convincing win at Meadowbank.

It was Chipstead who had the first goal scoring opportunity of the game after an in-swinging corner was met with a header, which was sent closely over the bar. Penn and Tylers then had a chance coming from a great cross by Lennen Moore with his left foot, which just missed the striker.

The first goal of the game came in the 12th minute. A free kick into the box saw Midgley managed to get his head to. The initial header was going wide, however, it was Penn and Tylers’ Hennessey who managed to head the ball in the back of the net at the far post.

Penn and Tylers doubled their lead shortly after with a goal from Brennan. A great through ball was played into Moore, he dribbled the ball into a dangerous area before crossing the ball back from the goal line where Brennan was waiting to slot home.

Chipstead had their chances to score with a couple of consecutive free kicks which were delivered into the box, but these were both easily dealt with. Penn & Tylers then added again to the score line by making the most out of a defensive error. A long goal kick was sent through by Neary to the opposition’s half which Chipstead were unable to deal with. Penn and Tylers’ Moore used his pace again and gained possession of the ball, and converted his left footed shot past the keeper to make the score 3-0.

Penn and Tylers maintained momentum in the game and were making life tricky for Chipstead, with Moore continuing to use his pace and strength to go past their back line. At the half hour mark, Penn and Tylers extended their lead to 4 goals. A huge cross from Pritchard was delivered into a congested box. The ball fell to Llamazeres who poked the ball past the keeper.

Chipstead looked to react well at the start of the second half and created some good early chances which they were unable to convert. In the 73rd minute of the game, Chipstead forced a goalkeeper error which saw Fassnidge pass the ball into an empty net.

Another goal from Penn and Tylers’ Hennessey in the 88th minute of the game, was the final goal of the day, confirming their win. The ball was played into him at the edge of the box, where he made a powerful right footed shot, striking the ball in the top right hand corner of the goal. Despite conceding 5 goals in the game Chipstead’s goalkeeper, Ben Forrester, made some outstanding saves to keep the scoreline to 5-1.
