Carshalton Athletic U14 Whites win Thorpe Park U14 County Cup
Carshalton Athletic U14 Whites Win All-Carshalton Athletic Thorpe Park U14 County Cup Final.
An all-Carshalton Athletic affair would see the Whites have the early run of the game as they looked to take both the bragging rights and the Thorpe Park U14 County Cup Trophy.
A Dangerous free kick from Kevin Esteves would force Red's keeper Austin Francis into an early save down to his right, but that would be the only real clear-cut chance of the opening 20 minutes.
Although they may have not had too many opportunities on goal, it was Carshalton Whites who were looking the more dangerous. Marvin Kigundu would have their next good chance after finding himself in some space 25 yards out. His powerful strike would have the beating of the ‘keeper but would just go the wrong side of the post.
A goal didn’t seem far away and in the 30th minute, the Whites would have the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out by the linesman’s flag.
Going into the half, the deadlock was yet to be broken and it really was anyone’s game.
Much like the first half, it was Carshalton Whites who were on the front foot. A string of dangerous corners would trouble the Reds’ defence, the best opportunity falling to Rhys Gordon-Smith but his header would go just wide. Less than a minute later, the Whites found themselves an even better opportunity, when Kywan Nelson had time and space in the box. His effort looked to break the deadlock, bit it would be denied by the woodwork.
Both sides continued to attack and after all their early pressure, it would be the Whites who would find the opener in the 56th minute. After a well-worked corner, Ollie Rollinson would be able to get the shot away and after passing through a number of bodies, eventually found its way into the bottom left corner.
The Reds were getting desperate to try and find the equaliser and would send almost every man forward for a corner two minutes from full-time. That would however backfire, with the Whites’ defence clearing the danger before Josiah Djokoto took the ball from box to box before tucking the ball away to seal the win and give Carshalton Athletic Whites the U14 Thorpe Park County Cup.
