Diabetes Awareness in Football
Join us during Diabetes Awareness Month this November for an insightful online workshop, hosted by Chris Bright and Neil Gibson, which will focus on the barriers within the game and the science of how you can be better prepared to support people around you who may have diabetes.
Chris is the Community Partnerships and Events Lead at JDRF, the UK's leading type 1 diabetes charity, and the founder of The Football Diabetes Community, a peer support community for those passionate about Football who are affected by the condition. Whilst Neil Gibson is the Senior Physical Activity Advisor at Diabetes UK.
The workshop, held in association with Sussex FA, Middlesex FA and Hertfordshire FA, aims to provide attendees with a greater awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with diabetes in football, insights into personal journeys and experiences and an understanding of the science and strategies behind diabetes management in sport.
The workshop will focus on the following:
Exploring Personal Journeys: Gain a deeper understanding of the barriers and journeys of individuals within the football community who are living with diabetes.
The Science Behind Diabetes in Football: Delve into the scientific aspects of diabetes in the context of football. Understand the key areas related to managing diabetes while participating in the sport.
