U14 Youth Final

Farnham Town win the Thorpe Park U14 Youth Cup Final

A hard-fought game saw Farnham beat AFC Whyteleafe 2-0

In a thrilling game at MeadowbankFarnham Town came out victorious against AFC Whyteleafe, beating them 2-0.

Farnham dominated the first half by moving the ball well and imposing their strong set piece play. Fraser Thomas looked good on the ball in the opening minutes with some neat and crisp dribbling.

Farnham’s Joshua Linton was quick to capitalise on a rebound from a 2nd minute free kick by Oliver Stevenson, putting them ahead by a goal.

Whyteleafe had a penalty claim in the 7th minute, but it was Farnham that were creating chances and looking dangerous in the opening 15. Fraser Thomas was the heart of it again as he made a wonderful solo run, beating couple of players, only for his shot to go off target.

The rest of the half continued to favour Farnham Town, as Joshua Linton netted their second goal, yet another set piece delivered with precision by Oliver Stevenson in the 22nd minute. Whyteleafe’s Louie Comrie maintained a real threat down the right flank. His directness and speed were a problem, but Farnham’s backline did well to limit his chance creation.

Farnham Town continued to show excellent teamwork and cohesive play throughout the first half, with Fraser Thomas, Harry Munden and Jaden Mansour making crucial contributions to maintain their comfortable 2-0 lead going into half time.

Whyteleafe started the second half with better energy and a much-improved team shape. In the opening 7 minutes, they piled pressure on Farnham and won multiple corners, but Farnham’s defence held strong and were able to keep them at bay.

Showing their desire, Whyteleafe managed to create one of their best chances yet in the 60th minute, with Louie Comrie coming extremely close to scoring the first goal for his team. His shot was however denied by Farnham’s Charlie Burns, who was quick off his line to rush and make a save from point blank range, denying any potential comeback.

Both teams remained evenly matched in the second half, sharing a few chances each but unable to change the scoreline. In the end it was Farnham Town who deservedly won the Thorpe Park U14 Youth Final to wrap up an impressive display against a spirted AFC Whyteleafe.
