Sunday Junior Final 2

Seale FC hit 8 to win Sunday Junior Cup

High scoring Seale overcame Redhill Lions to lift the trophy
A dominant Seale FC side cruised past Red Hill Lions to win the Sunday Junior Cup Final at Meadowbank.

The start of the game saw both teams moving the ball well, threatening at both ends of the pitch. Redhill Lions Harry Mullard was creating in the midfield as they approached the Seale box.

Despite Redhill’s promising start, they found themselves behind after 12 minutes, when keeper Jordan Markey parried a teasing shot into the path of Seale’s Josh Vincent, who wasted no time slotting in to put his side ahead.

The momentum was with Seale as they continued to put Redhill under pressure, a teasing cross forcing Markey to tip the ball over the bar to keep it at 1-0. Despite this, the precision of Seale’s counter attacks led to a second goal in the 26th minute, as Luc Vincent poked home a cross into the box to double the score.

Redhill looked to work their way up the pitch, with Callum Johnson a vocal target man, but they were unable to push past the Seale defence, and in the 32nd minute Josh Kenton’s turn of pace saw him sprint past Redhill’s Jack Pollock to lace the ball to make it 3-0. Moments later, Kenton made it a brace for himself as he picked up a loose back pass and rounded the keeper to put Seale firmly out of sight.

It seemed the score would remain the same towards the end of the half. However, Kenton continued to threat and deservedly mad it a hattrick after picking up a precise pass from Louie Paciet and burying the chance in the bottom right corner to make it 5-0 to Seale FC at half time.

The second half left Redhill with everything to do, and they nearly got on the scoresheet through substitute Jason Woolsey, whose strike was well smothered by Seale keeper Mat Teagle. Moments later, Bradley Johnson picked up the ball in the box, his shot flying over the goal.

Redhill’s efforts remained unrewarded, and in the 61st minute a corner routine by Seale was put away by the towering Brandon Carter, who rose above the rest to comfortably header the ball home. A similar corner routine followed almost 20 minutes later, this time Aaron Burchett showing his prowess to make it 7-0 to Seale in a similar fashion.

Seale maintained their dominance and it seemed the score was settled, until Luc Vincent played a precise through ball down the right wing in the 89th minute for substitute Ross Ewan to run on to, he made no mistake in dispatching the chance to make it 8-0 to Seale, who went on to lift the Sunday Junior Cup.
