U14 Girls Final

Eagles soar to victory in the U14 Girls Cup Final

Crystal Palace were too strong for KPR as they win 7-0

Crystal Palace were in fine form as they defeated Kew Park Rangers 7-0 in the Thorpe Park U14 Girls Cup Final.

Right from the start, Palace dominated proceedings with a flurry of attacks. In the 4th minute, they took the lead with a stunning free kick from Ruby Sayer that left the KPR keeper with no chance. The midfielder showed great skill to curl the ball into the top corner of the net.

Palace continued to pile on the pressure and in the 6th minute, they doubled their lead when Ruby Sayer scored her second goal of the game with another well-executed strike from outside the box.

In the 11th minute, Crystal Palace extended their lead further when Eloise Mitchell scored with a low drive from outside the box that found the bottom right corner of the net. The KPR players were desperately trying to get back into the game, but they found it difficult to create any chances against a solid Crystal Palace defence.

KPR’s first chance of the game came in the 16thminute from a teasing cross, put into the box by Lily Belle Kingsland, but unfortunately nobody was on the end of it. KPR’s Cosima Robinson was at the heart of their defence, trying to keep things tight at the back as she intercepted key passes and made a crucial block from Palace’s Anniyah Rodney.

KPR gained some momentum and soon had their best chance yet. Victoria Baravik played a wonderful through ball into Grace Wearn, only for Palace’s keeper to stand her ground and save it, taking Palace 3-0 into the break.

In the second half, Crystal Palace continued where they left off and in the 45th minute, Ruby Sayer added to her tally with a beautifully curled shot that found the far corner of the net. Palace’s Eloise Mitchell also grabbed her second for the evening after her well – placed shot found the back of the net in the 53rd minute to make it 5.

KPR did manage to create another chance of their own, with a lovely counter – led by Grace Wearn and Shannaiyah Walley in the 61st minute that led to a shot hitting the crossbar. However, it was Crystal Palace who had the final say with Ella Buckfield scoring in the final minute to wrap up a comprehensive victory.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by Crystal Palace who had the better of their opponents on the day.
