U16 Girls Final

Crystal Palace win the U16 Girls Cup Final in emphatic style

A dominant Crystal Palace beat AFC Wimbledon 0-5 at Meadowbank

In a commanding performance on a rainy Sunday morning in the Thorpe Park U16 Girls Final, Crystal Palace claimed a resounding 0-5 victory over AFC Wimbledon.

The charge started early in the game, with a goal in the 2nd minute by Asheya Patrick, courtesy of a well-placed cross from Tecla Ezeh on the left wing.

Palace continued their dominance throughout the first half, displaying good organisation and composure on the ball. Nelly Guest was in the heart of it for Palace as she orchestrated each attack by playing out seamlessly from the back. They doubled their lead in the 10th minute with a goal by Rhianna Fowler, who dribbled past the keeper and scored into an empty net.

Despite Wimbledon's attempts to fight back, led by their midfield maestro Hanna Hevesy, Palace pushed forward, and in the 40th minute, Tecla Ezeh found the back of the net from a lovely cross from the right flank, created by Elsa Ejup.

The second half saw a much-improved performance from AFC Wimbledon, with their captain Kanita Thrup driving the team forward in midfield. However, Palace continued to assert their dominance, scoring again in the 70th minute, with Tahalia Acheampong converting a volley from a corner to make it 4-0.

As the game entered the final 10 minutes, Asheya Patrick put the game beyond doubt, scoring her second goal of the game and Palace's fifth, burying the ball in the bottom right corner.

The game ended 5-0, with 104 people in attendance to witness Crystal Palace's commanding performance and their worthy victory in the cup final.
