Diversity in Surrey

Diversity in Surrey Festival

The bespoke tournament celebrated diversity across the County

This weekend we hosted a football festival at Weir Archer Fitness and Athletics Centre in Kingston, to celebrate the vast range of diversity across Surrey.

Delivered to reflect the momentum of the winter World Cup, the tournament provided a great opportunity for all demographics throughout Surrey to come together with other like-minded players and celebrate diversity.

Held at Weir Archer Fitness and Athletics Centre, we welcomed 23 players from Stonewall FC A and B teams, Chinese Community Centre, and Chelsea Foundation, to play in a mini tournament joined by a team made up of staff and members from our Inclusion Advisory Board (IAG).

The event was a great example of how football is accessible for all and, despite the cold weather, it was amazing to see participants from diverse backgrounds coming together to celebrate and enjoy the game.

Surrey FA Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Eve Roberts, was in attendance and had the following to say:

“It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves, and welcoming others into their teams whilst celebrating diversity in Surrey football. We are also excited to announce that as part of the festival, Stonewall and the Chinese Community Centre FC will be offered training space at Kingsmeadow for the rest of the season, to ensure they are supported and able to offer football to more individuals.”
