Surrey FA and Specsavers launch search for team mascots for Senior Cup Final

Surrey FA has partnered with its lead sponsor, Specsavers, to create an exciting opportunity for footie fanatic children.

Together, we are offering the chance for children to become team mascots for the Specsavers Surrey Senior Cup final day on the 17th of May 2022.

Lucky winners from Surrey will get the chance to walk onto the pitch with the finalist teams at Meadowbank Football Ground, home of Surrey FA and finalists Dorking Wanderers, and receive a free set of tickets for their adult guardians to attend the game.

Closing on Friday 13th May, the online competition invites adult guardians to enter on behalf of a child aged four to twelve years.

To be in with the chance of winning, the child needs to answer this very simple question:

Who are the current holders of the Specsavers Surrey Senior Cup?

The competition’s aim is to celebrate the younger generation’s love of the game and give the lucky winners the chance to do something amazing after a tough time following the pandemic.

Competitions Officer, Bob Dick, from the Surrey FA, said: "We had to put the Surrey Senior Cup on hold for almost three years when the pandemic struck. It’s been a challenge for our clubs, as well as the fans of all ages who love coming to the matches.

"Now that life is ‘semi’ back to normal for the majority, Specsavers and Surrey FA have worked together to see how we could amplify the joy we all feel seeing our players back on the field.  We felt that a family competition to join in with the fun on cup final day made complete sense. So, we now urge everyone to get entering, and good luck to all who apply!"

Specsavers stores across Surrey have been a lead sponsor of the Senior Surrey Cup for more than five years. Its team of local opticians and audiologists across the county share a common mission with the Surrey FA to better the health of those within their local communities.

Mihaela Ovadiuc, regional chair at Specsavers, said: "Grassroots sports plays such an important role to instil healthy, active living across all age groups. This is why all of the Specsavers stores across the Surrey region have come together to financially invest in the Surrey FA. We want to ensure they can keep going for many years to come and keep that passion for football alive and kicking across the county."
