All Youth Football in Surrey Suspended

Youth leagues in Surrey have agreed in unison to a three-week suspension of fixtures

Following consultation between Surrey FA and the youth leagues within Surrey on Monday 4th January, it has been agreed that all league fixtures will be suspended for a minimum of three-weeks, up to and including 24 January.

Youth Leagues affected are listed below:

  • Surrey Youth League
  • Surrey Primary League
  • Epsom & Ewell Youth Football League
  • South Surrey Youth Football League
  • Surrey County Women’s & Girls Football League

We have recently seen a significant rise in the number of Coronavirus cases in Surrey, with 1,139 new cases recorded within the County in the last 24 hours. Ahead of the Government’s announcement on 4th January regarding new COVID-19 restrictions in England, we have decided that prompt action should be taken.

This was a difficult decision and one which we had hoped we would not have to make. However, the safety of players, volunteers and the wider community must be our main priority. Surrey FA have formally supported this decision.

This three-week break has been introduced with immediate effect. Within this period, we urge our clubs to withhold from carrying out training sessions or organising friendly fixtures, as we seek to limit the spread of this deadly virus.

We shall continually review this decision in collaboration with the Surrey youth leagues. Any further information will be circulated in due course.
