Surrey FA meet FA Safeguarding operating standard, safeguarding football in Surrey.

The awarding of this followed a stringent, two day audit of the County’s safeguarding practices by the FA’s independent auditors, Girling Hughes Associates Ltd.

Particular areas of strength highlighted in the authors’ final report were the Club Welfare Officer network events, Surrey FA’s ‘Youth Onside’ project, which provides opportunities for children to have a voice on how their club is run. They were also impressed with our efforts towards inclusion, particularly through our Inclusive Schools League, which was recognised at the London Football Awards earlier this year.

This is a fantastic achievement and a deserved acknowledgement of all the good work that goes on across Surrey by all of us to keep football safe for all our players. We would like to say a huge thank you to Phil Rendell, Surrey FA’s Designated Safeguarding Officer, for his continuous hard work in improving and maintaining the excellent safeguarding practices which are in place across grassroots football in the county.
