Surrey FA is pleased to announce that the Community Foundation for Surrey has awarded a grant of £2,250 through one of their donors, The Peter Harrison Foundation Community Fund, to support the delivery of an Inclusive Level 1 Coaching Course. 

The first of its kind in Surrey, the Inclusive Level 1 is designed for candidates with a disability, and as such the course has been adapted into shorter learning blocks, and will take place at Wandgas Sports and Social Club between March and May.

There are 12 candidates with a range of disabilities from all over the county, who will be fully supporting the candidates on a 3:1 learner to mentor / tutor ratio. Coaches will also be given support coaching at their clubs after completing the course by FA Coach Mentors.
 
Tamsyn Woodman, Surrey FA’s Football Development Officer who leads on Disability and Inclusion, says, "It’s exciting to be amongst the first wave of County FAs to be adapting coaching courses to suit the needs of candidates and offer such a course to candidates. Everyone involved, from the Education department at Surrey FA, to mentors, to the tutor, and host venue, have been working hard to make this course a success." 

The funding from Community Foundation Surrey will be used to make the course as accessible as possible for the candidates, and will also be used to run a one- day Coaching Disabled Footballers Course after the Level 1 is completed, to up-skill the coaches in coaching disabled players at their clubs.
