Get into refereeing
Reasons to Referee
Whether you aspire to referee a World Cup Final or help out your local youth or adult leagues, every journey is different.
By becoming a qualified referee you will:
- Make new and lasting friends
- Earn money for being a match official
- Have the chance to stay active following injury / retirement
- Develop a greater understanding of football
The FA Basic Referee Course
The FA Basic Referee Course is essential to becoming a referee, and ensures your journey as a referee begins from the best possible platform.
Respect
The FA's Respect programme provides a series of tools for leagues, clubs, coaches, players and parents from grassroots to elite football - to help ensure a safe, positive environment in which to play the game.
If you're interested in becoming a referee in Surrey, then there's a couple of early steps we need you to take before we can enrol you onto the course.
Firstly, you must complete the Refereeing Course Questionnaire and return it to referees@SurreyFA.com.
Once complete, we will get back in touch to you to let you know when our next Welcome to Refereeing event is, which will let you in on all you need to know before starting the course.
Once complete, we will get in contact you with details about course dates, and how you can book on.
The refereeing courses we run vary depending on the time of year, however we try our best to accommodate everyone during busy periods - notably the Summer.
As well as the traditional 11-a-side football, there are plenty of other opportunities for you to get involved in. Futsal, Walking Football and Small Sided football are just some of the other variations that require referees.
