125 year

Sutton United celebrate 125th anniversary

The club reached this historic milestone earlier this month

On Saturday 4th March, Surrey FA president Ray Lewis presented Sutton United with a dedicated plaque in celebration of their 125th anniversary.

The club held celebrations at their recent home game against Crewe Alexandra with Sutton United Chairman Bruce Elliot receiving the plaque to commemorate this historic moment for the club.

Sutton United was formed on the 5th of March 1898 and in recent years has risen through the English Football pyramid to reach the English Football League in 2021 for the first time in their history. They currently play in League Two and are just outside the play-off places at this stage of the season.

If you want to find out more about Sutton United’s journey, we recently sat down with Sutton United CEO Adrian Barry on our exclusive podcast, The Final Whistle, to talk about the club’s rise to the English Football League, their work with the local community and the club’s future ambitions.
