Surrey FA hold Women's Super Sevens Tournament

On Sunday 21st August, Surrey FA held their rescheduled Women’s Rec and Walking Football festival in Walton.

As we continue to celebrate women’s football across the county, we welcomed thirteen Rec teams and three Walking Football teams from across Surrey to participate in a football festival.

The 5-a-side, round-robin styled festival, held at the Xcel Sports Hub in Walton-on-Thames celebrated the ever-growing women’s game in Surrey and provided a great opportunity for new players, and veterans alike, to get involved in both formats.

The day was full of celebration of the Lionesses win and flourished in competition, comradery, and respect. The fun filled afternoon was rounded off with some well deserved pizza and each participant was offered a free personalised ‘Inspired By’ WEURO22 and Surrey FA water bottle.

Emma Eaton, our Football Development Officer for Women & Girls was in attendance and had the following to say:

“It was fantastic to have 125 women join us for the event, to not only celebrate the success of the Lionesses at the EUROs, but the success of women's football across Surrey. We're expanding from 16 to over 25 teams in our women's Flexi-League for the upcoming season, which demonstrates how far the game has progressed and how significant this summer of football has been. We're so excited to see more and more women from all backgrounds join us, whether it's in these tournaments or in club football. Everyone is welcome whether you've played before or not, so make sure you get involved.”

Off the back of the Women’s EUROS, we hope to leave a legacy with thousands more women and girls, of all ages and abilities participating in football across Surrey.
