Surrey Schools FA Partnership

Surrey FA will now lead on the organisation, administration and delivery of Surrey school cup competitions.

Surrey FA will now lead on the organisation, administration and delivery of Surrey school cup competitions.

Surrey FA has for a long time worked alongside the Surrey Schools FA (SSFA) in achieving its goals of supporting young people to access football through its network of inter-school leagues, tournaments and representative team offer.

The sad passing of Richard Jones (SSFA secretary) this summer has meant lots of hard work has gone into continuing to build on the legacy left by Richard and will see an even closer working relationship with Surrey FA.

SSFA will have a new committee structure this season with chairman Steve Bosdet (Carshalton Boys College), Martyn Hall (Kingston Grammar School) in the role of secretary and Douglas Whitbourn overseeing finances as treasurer.  They will be supported by Karen Jones from Surrey FA who will be the main point of contact for enquiries relating to cup draws, referee appointments and team entries.  Karen can be contacted on 01372 373 543 or by email at karen.jones@surreyfa.com.

One of the biggest changes this season will see Surrey FA leading on the organisation, administration and delivery of all school cup competitions including the Danone Nations Cup, as well as supporting representative team fixtures. To help with this a new dedicated SSFA section of Surrey FA’s website has now gone live which will now hold all fixtures details, cup draws and key school contacts.

Steve Bradshaw, Surrey FA CEO commented that, “The further strengthening of this working relationship and alignment or resources is one that will only help young people access an even greater range of playing opportunities. We recognise the value of school’s football which is evident from the recent success Surrey teams have had in National schools’ competitions and the emergence of talented players educated here in the county, that has included Ryan Sessegnon of Tottenham and Harvey Elliot who recently signed for Liverpool”.
