Smith Construction, appointed to design and build the new 3G football turf pitch at Meadowbank Football Stadium, have hailed the new 3G Pitch as 'Fantastic'.

The 3G pitch is part of a major £8million redevelopment of the ground which is now home for Surrey FA headquarters.

The project was made possible by funds from Mole Valley District Council, Surrey County FA and Sport England Improvement Fund.

The FIFA Quality standard pitch was delivered on programme and included the installation of Duo 60 3G football turf, a superb grass product manufactured by official FIFA preferred producers of artificial football turf; Limonta. The surface has been installed at many FIFA certified venues world-wide.

Meadowbank Football Stadium is also the home ground for Dorking Wanderers FC who play in the Bostik League Premier Division.

Smith Maintenance experts will care for the artificial pitch in conjunction with Surrey FA’s facility management team to keep it in tip top condition.

FIFA tests were carried out on the new surface by independent test house Labosport, and in addition to these, Smith’s will perform their own field tests. A Condition, Compaction and Performance (CCP) survey and report will be completed regularly to monitor the characteristics of the surface over time, to ensure optimum player performance is achieved and maintained.

Commenting on the new pitch, Surrey FA’s Facilities Manager, Matthew Walsh said “Our new surface has been installed to an extremely high standard and both Surrey FA and Dorking Wanderers FC are looking forward to the benefit of playing on the turf all year round. Surrey FA coaches, staff, community clubs and Dorking Wanderers teams are keen to play matches and hold training sessions on the FIFA Quality certified surface.”

Smith Construction’s Jeanette Munton said, “The pitch looks fantastic. Limonta Duo 60 is designed to replicate the playing characteristics of a top quality natural grass pitch and we hope the young players will enjoy the experience”.
