Temporary Dismissals: Webinars
In the 2017/18 season a trial took place across the country to test the use of temporary dismissals (sin bins) for dissent cautions.
This trial was considered a success by The FA and therefore will be extended to even more leagues and competitions in 2018/19.
From 2019/20 temporary dismissals (for dissent cautions) will be compulsory in all football from step 7 and below (in Surrey this affects the Surrey Elite League and below including youth football).
This will mean a lot of new things to learn for both Referees and our Clubs and Leagues. We will therefore be delivering separate webinars for both Referees and Clubs & Leagues, with the intention of bringing you up to speed and ready to hit the ground running with Temporary Dismissals.
To prepare referees for these changes Surrey FA will be running a season long programme of training, starting with two free online webinars on Monday 3rd September.
Aims of the webinar:
- Highlight successes and key recommendations from the pilot.
- Educate match officials about how to implement temporary dismissals on matchdays.
- Provide an opportunity to ask questions directly to Surrey FA referee staff.

Please note we will be continuing the training programme by visiting local referee societies and leagues meetings. We will hold another set of online sessions prior to the start of next season and we have created a dedicated section on our website to provide further information.
