Accolades For Surrey Refs At Iber Cup

Beare Green based father and son, and Surrey FA registered referees, Ross and Morgan Hamilton have returned from officiating at the latest Ibercup just outside Lloret de Mar, Barcelona.

Youth teams flew in from wide ranging locations such as the United States, Kenya, India and South Korea, with both officials refereeing throughout Friday morning’s three matches.

With the awards and finals appointments held on the Thursday evening, proud dad Ross was happy with his Fourth Official spot on the U15s B Final. However this was surpassed when son Morgan was named both 'Assistant Referee of the Tournament' and Assistant Referee for the Boys U15s Final, which took place at the Lloret de Mar stadium.

“Morgan was a valuable referee due to his reliability, commitment and ability” said Referees Director Fabio Alexandre. “He showed great potential and has a bright future ahead of him.”

“Ibercup Barca 2017 was a great experience for me to officiate in a prestigious tournament abroad, and I learnt a lot not only on the field but also by chatting with the many international referees,” said Morgan. “I'd definitely recommend it to any young referee & can't wait to go out again.”
