Surrey FA affiliated club Sutton United will take on Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup, live on BBC One.
It’s fair to say that Sutton United’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the fourth-round of the FA Cup captured the imagination of the country. Despite sitting 83 league places below Leeds, Jamie Collins’ 53rd minute penalty sent The U’s through to the fifth-round, where a fixture at home to Premier League giants Arsenal now awaits.
With 12 FA Cup titles in their history, Arsenal hold the joint-record for the most tournament wins, setting up Sutton’s tie as a truly momentous occasion.
For those unable to secure a ticket at the 5,013 capacity Ganders Green Lane, the BBC have since announced that the fixture will be broadcast live on BBC One on Monday 20th February, with kick-off at 19:55 (GMT).
Two Routes To Wembley
Aside from their headline-grabbing FA Cup campaign, Sutton also hold another potential route to Wembley.
The fifth-round of The Buildbase FA trophy saw Sutton United and Boreham Wood play out a 0-0 draw at Ganders Green Lane, with The U’s being reduced to nine-men in the process.
The replay will take place at Meadow Park on the 7th February, with the winners earning a quarter-final place at home against Lincoln City on 25th February. To see the full draw for the quarter-final of The Buildbase FA Trophy, you can head to The FA website here.
