Summer 2020 Tournaments can be Found at the bottom of this page*
All One/Two Day Football Tournaments or Football Festivals taking place within the borders of Surrey must be sanctioned by Surrey FA. This also applies to Charity Tournaments and matches organised to raise funds for Charities.
Many Tournaments and Festivals, predominantly organised and administered by Surrey FA Affiliated Clubs, will be taking place across the County in 2020. Below is a list of those events which have been sanctioned by Surrey FA and that are being hosted by Clubs who have Charter Standard status. The list will be updated as and when additional tournaments are advised to us for sanctioning, so please check regularly for new additions to the list.
If you are organising a tournament/festival, please complete the Competitions Affiliation Form which can found below under 'Related Documents'.
Once completed, send the form to: Affiliation@SurreyFA.com
It is important to recognise that an un-affiliated Tournament or Competition renders a Club’s Insurance invalid, and participating Teams and Referees may also be at risk from being uncovered by their own Insurance. Clubs and Referees are welcome to ask Surrey FA whether a forthcoming Tournament or Event, whether organised by a Charter Standard Status Club or not, has been sanctioned by a governing body.
Clarification regarding FA Rule 4A (iii) - Summer Tournaments for Youth Clubs and Commercial Providers
Further to several queries about FA Rule 4A (iii), linked to competition formats for young players in the Under 7 to Under 10 age groups, questions have arisen about the summer tournaments organised by grassroots clubs and commercial companies. The query relates to whether these events can be run as a competition, for a trophy, with a published winner.
The FA Rule states that leagues can organise a maximum of three trophy events during the season, lasting a variety of different weeks according to age. The 'league season' in youth football typically runs from September to April/May but prior that the summer months see many grassroots clubs and companies hold tournaments, often with the purpose of generating income to fund the Club for following season. These one/two day club events are sanctioned events separate from the normal Club Affiliation.
The club/commercial events can, therefore, be organised with a trophy for a published winner at all ages, if the organising club/company choose to do so. However, if they choose to run the younger age groups in a festival format this is permissible.
We will continue to monitor the impact of these events, when run as a trophy competition, to ascertain whether this method is in the best interests of the young person participating and player development.
* Please be aware that this is a benefit of gaining Charters Standard and we shall only list tournaments hosted by Charters Standard status clubs on this page. Find out more on becoming Charter Standard here.
