Surrey County Football Association has awarded Waverley based club Cranleigh Youth FC the prestigious FA Charter Standard Development Club award for grassroots football.
The FA Charter Standard programme, supported by FA partner McDonald's, was established to help clubs to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and Safeguarding children. The FA Charter Standard award is presented to those clubs like Cranleigh Youth FC who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch in grassroots football.
Ian Dobbs, FA Charter Standard Club coordinator commented "we are delighted to have achieved FA Charter Standard Development award. We are committed to giving opportunities to children of all abilities within the local community to play football. By becoming a FA Charter Standard Development Club, we have ensured that all of our coaches have the necessary skills to do this."
Steven Edwards, Football Development Officer commented "The FA Charter Standard award acknowledges the support Cranleigh Youth FC provides to the local community and their efforts to ensure the club offers opportunities for players to develop their skills and play football in a safe and positive environment. The Surrey County FA is committed to raising the standards of football at grassroots level and the dedication and achievements of clubs like Cranleigh Youth FC make this possible."
Cranleigh Youth FC were presented with their award on Sunday 16th May the day after the FA Cup Final at their clubs annual festival. Cranleigh Youth are the first Charter Standard Development club in Waverley. And one of twenty clubs who have achieved the FA Charter Standard Development level in the County
Since 2002, over 110 clubs representing more than 1200 teams in Surrey have achieved FA Charter Standard Club, Adult Club, Development or Community Club status.
