Developing Technique in Advanced Players
Gwynne Berry, Academy Technical Coach at West Ham United FC

On Sunday 21st March Surrey Football Coaches Association will be running their sixth session of the season in aid of Sport Relief. The practical coaching demonstration will take place at Almshouse Lane, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 starting promptly at 2pm and for every coach attending the Surrey Football Coaches Association will donate £5 to Sports Relief which will be matched by the Surrey County Football Association.

The topic 'Developing Technique in Advanced Players' can be adapted for coaches of players of any age and ability, so the Surrey County Football Association recommend this session to all coaches. There is no need to pre-book and new members are welcome. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance and may also be required to participate in the session, so should bring the appropriate footwear and clothing for working on grass or astroturf.

Gwynne Berry, Academy Technical Coach at West Ham United FC, forged a very successful playing career in semi-professional football, making over 1000 senior appearances and culminating in an F.A. Trophy Winner Medal at Wembley with Woking F.C. He has spent the past twenty years as a professional football coach, specialising in the area of technical development.

“At West Ham United F.C. we firmly believe that outstanding technical ability is essential for Premiership success. The development in our Academy players' technique under Gwynne has been excellent” Tony Carr - Academy Director West Ham United F.C.

“We at Millwall F.C. invited Gwynne to present at our Academy in-service training day. His technical knowledge and attention to detail led me to believe that any youth player from grassroots to elite performers would benefit from working with his programme” Scott Fitzgerald - Head of Youth Development Millwall F.C.

The Surrey County Football Association highly recommends coaches attend these practical sessions to further their knowledge and as part of their continuing personal development. By getting involved in this event in aid of Sport Relief you’re helping to change the world. All the cash raised will help to transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
