The Surrey County FA is delighted to announce the plans for the 2010 Surrey County FA Young Leadership Camp which is taking place on Thursday 8th April 2010 at Chessington Community College, Garrison Lane, KT9 2JS. The camp is aimed at male and female young leaders aged between 14-18 years. The young leaders must be in school, college or currently volunteering in a FA Charter Standard Club. The course will start at 10am and finish at 4pm. The cost for this year’s camp is £8.00 per person.
This year’s camp will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and football in general. The event will be run by the Surrey County FA Football Development Team and will cover activities such as planning and arranging football festivals, a guide to refereeing workshop, team building exercises, and a practical session on how to effectively coach disabled footballers. There will also be the inaugural Surrey County FA football quiz.
Two people from this County Camp will also be selected to attend the prestigious FA National Young Leadership Camp. Last season two lucky young leaders selected for the FA National Camp were treated to a five day residential camp and were mentored by England legend Stuart Pearce. At this national camp 2-4 young leaders will be selected to support our international placement programme and help support and run festivals for children in Africa. A fantastic opportunity and life changing moment I’m sure you’ll agree.
Furthermore at the County camp we will also be selecting a number of young leaders to help the Surrey County FA organise and run our 2011 Young Leaders Camp and will also be recruiting for volunteers to help the Surrey FA plan and organise the Surrey Youth Games football activities.
Further to this, you must be completing, or have completed, a leadership or football qualification. You must also commit to volunteering in an FA Charter Standard Club after the event and make use of the new skills and knowledge you have learnt by passing these on to supporting grassroots football, for which you will then receive, a certificate of recognition.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 1st April 2010 and unfortunately late applications cannot be considered.
