Leagues well supported in Surrey.

9:03 AM, Tuesday, 23 February 10.

Surrey County FA demonstrated their commitment to their leagues by holding two workshops on Tuesday 9th February 2010 specifically looking at league support and development.

The sessions were led by Andrew Hailwood, FA National League Development Manager. In the afternoon the first workshop was run for county staff focusing on how the county works with leagues. This was followed by an evening session for Leagues representatives.

Steve Sharman, recently appointed FA National Game Manager for the South East Region said “The Surrey County FA work very closely with leagues and are leading the way in our region”

26 leagues attended the evening which began with a report on how far the County have progressed against their 4 year Strategy. This was followed by an update on the respect programme and a presentation to selected leagues for their commitment to the intiative.

Andrew Hailwood, FA National League Development Manager then presented details of the new FA Clubs and League unit and highlighted his priorities to ensure leagues were well supported.
The final session of the evening enabled leagues to have their say on how we can reverse the decline of adult male 11-A-side football in Surrey. The Surrey County FA are looking to hold follow on sessions with leagues next month.
