Peter was a ‘County’ man who held the respect of everyone he met especially those in the ‘Football family’. His service to Surrey County FA and football in the County is probably unparalleled and some of this service is listed below. Peter was the only person in the County to have held the positions of Secretary, Chairman and President over a long and distinguished career in football.
He loved nothing more than travelling around the country with the Youth team or making other Counties welcome when we were hosts. He made many friends because of his work with the Youth Association and his attendance at many conferences.
Peter was always available to lend an ear and give his advice accordingly and many of us are better off for listening to his words of wisdom. He rarely missed a meeting and his quick wit often calmed a stormy debate.
He will be greatly missed by many people throughout the County and football in general.
Our thoughts are with his wife Elsie, brother Brian and family.
Details of Peter’s funeral will be notified when known.
Yours faithfully
Ray Ward
County Secretary
