The FA have sought to educate parents and coaches as to the right way to support their children but the introduction of designated spectator areas has also proved useful in creating the space to allow the players to play and the coaches to coach.
To support clubs wishing to promote Respect the FA have just announced a new scheme to provide assistance to clubs to purchase touchline barriers. The barriers although temporary ensure that there is a physical and psychological space between the spectators and players and coaches. Many leagues around the country report a significant improvement in touchline behaviour.
The FA's scheme will make available £100,000 for a 50 % funding scheme and is available to clubs that operate in any of the FA's 850 Respect Leagues. Chartered Standard clubs will be able to purchase additional numbers of barriers at the 50 % rate. This investment should allow for the purchase of up to 4,000 new barriers in grassroots football.
The FA will work with Touchline Logos to offer a product that it is a significant improvement on the 'first generation' barriers and has withstood the demands of grassroots football since its adoption by the FA over a year ago. The range of Touchline Logos barriers available on the 50% discount barrier scheme are as listed below.
