You must be 14 years old or above to qualify.

The 11 a side referees course consists of five modules

Module 1 Welcome to Refereeing and Test of Knowledge paper
Module 2 Referee Course
Module 3 Examination in two parts
Module 4 Referee 6- 11 a side games
Module 5 Newly-Qualified Referees' Workshop

The cost for the course is

Age 14 or 15

FA Safeguarding Children DVD £10.00
CRB check fee (not payable if issued by FA CRB Unit within 3 years) 0.00

Age 16 or 17
Course fee (refundable ) 30.00
Referee registration fee 15.00
Workshop fee (not payable if Workshop attended within last 3 years) 20.00
CRB check fee (not payable if issued by FA CRB Unit within 3 years) 0.00

Age 18 or above
Course fee (refundable ) 30.00

If you are 16 or over you will need to have attended a 3-hour Child Protection Workshop.

Those under 16 will be required to watch a DVD on the subject and submit an answer sheet. In both cases this must be completed before taking the exam. Details will be sent to you with your joining instruction.

Those of 18 years and over will need to complete an Enhanced Disclosure check.

Once all five modules have been completed you will become a registered and qualified Referee at either level 7 or 8 depending on your age.
