Surrey County Football Association has almost 1400 registered referees, including many who officiate at the top level of the game.
Many of these started on a referees course organised by the Surrey County Referees' Committee on behalf of Surrey County F.A. If you have just finished playing and you want to give something back to the game, or if you wish to start a career in refereeing, then there is a course being run locally to you in Surrey.
There are twelve referees' societies within Surrey which, as well as holding monthly meetings, arrange training courses throughout the year. If you wish to find out more about refereeing then you are welcome to attend a meeting near you.
LONG SERVICE AWARD - CRITERIA FOR REFEREES
The Surrey County FA is pleased to give awards to those who have, as referees, given active service in exemplary fashion over 15, 30 and 45 years.
These criteria are applied rigorously and a slight lapse in an otherwise exemplary career may well disentitle a referee to receipt of an award.
- Must have been registered with the Surrey County FA and active for a period of 15, 30 or 45 years (broken service is allowed)
- Clock starts at 1st July each year
- "Active" is considered to be a minimum number of matches / Season is 6 [but those operating only in schools football will be at the discretion of the Referees' Committee]
Conduct

- Always accepted appointments allocated to him/her by the County apart from exceptional circumstances
- Always dealt with correspondence in a reasonable and prompt manner
- Always sent in disciplinary reports (up to the required standard) when necessary and in a timely manner
- Attended misconduct commissions whenever requested to do so apart from exceptional circumstances
