Kingstonian Youth has been awarded the prestigious FA CharterStandard Development Club award for grassroots football

The national FA Charter Standard award is presented to those clubs like the K's who lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch.

Ian Brady, Chairman of Kingstonian Youth, is understandably very proud to receive such a prestigious award, "This is wonderful recognition for all the hard work by the coaches and all the other volunteers who have helped make the youth section one of the best in the county."

The club will be will be presented with their award on Saturday 22nd April 2006 at Kingsmeadow Stadium, before Kingstonian FC kick off their final home game of the season at 3pm, by Surrey County FA Football Development Officer Steven Edwards in front of the 270 boys and girls who represent the famous club.

Councillor Yogan Yoganathan, The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, will be part of the ceremony which also marks the first Charter Standard award in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Sir Trevor Brooking, The FA's Director of Football Development commented:
"The FA Charter Standard award acknowledges the fantastic support that Kingstonian Youth is providing within the local community and its efforts to provide opportunities for players to develop their skills and play football in a safe and positive environment."

The FA Charter Standard programme, supported by FA partner McDonald's, was established five years ago and aims to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and child protection.
