Curley Park Rangers land FA Community award

Surrey County Football Association has awarded Curley Park Rangers FC the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club award for grassroots football.

The FA Charter Standard Club programme, supported by FA partner McDonald’s, was established eight years ago and helps clubs to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and Safeguarding Children.

The national FA Charter Standard Community Club award is the pinnacle of the FA Charter Standard programme and is presented to those clubs, like Curley Park, who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch in grassroots football.

Paul Blair, Club Secretary of Curley Park Rangers FC said ‘‘We are all volunteers within Curley Park and for each and every Manager, Coach and helper to give up their time to attend all the courses and development training shows the commitment we have to providing football within the community to the best level we can. I am extremely proud of what we have all achieved..”

Curley Park Rangers FC were presented with their Community Club award at the England home game against Croatia at Wembley on May 5th, where they were presented the award by Steven Edwards, Surrey County FA Football Development Officer.

Steven Edwards, Surrey County FA Football Development Officer commented “Curley Park Rangers Football Club are a well organised club that sets themselves high standards in what they deliver, having a multi-team set up with excellent training and playing opportunities for all. This award is very special, as a Community Club is one of the truest measures of success for The FA Football Development strategy. The Surrey County FA is committed to raising the standards of football at grassroots level and the dedication and achievements of clubs like Curley Park make this possible”.

Since 2002, over 100 clubs representing more than 500 teams in Surrey have achieved FA Charter Standard Club, Adult Club or Development Club award with a further eleven clubs - including Curley Park FC - reaching the Community Club standard.
