Continued Professional Development for Teachers

Ensuring that we have a qualified teacher workforce to deliver high quality football sessions within the curriculum and out-of-school hours of learning is essential in developing all players of all abilities. The following courses are available to teachers and School Sports Co-ordinators as part of the Surrey County FA’s Education programme

JFO Tutor Course – 6.5 hours
A course to train teachers to deliver the JFO course within their school. The course includes –
- Preparing to play football
- Football Skills
- Safety and Codes of Conduct
- Warm-ups
- Mini Soccer
- Planning sessions

Beginners Guide to Coaching Disabled Footballers – 4.5 hours
A course to support teachers working in special or mainstream Education, coaches or young leaders. Gives idea's on practical delivery and the inclusion spectrum. Supports the School Club links programme and Competition framework.

Beginners Guide to Futsal – 3 hours
A course for Secondary School Teachers, young leaders or coaches providing the basic introduction to the game of Futsal and law awareness. Aims to support Competition framework

Football Mentor – 6 hours
A course for Secondary School Teachers to support other teachers (Secondary or Primary) to develop football in their school either in or out of the curriculum.

Mentoring Young Leaders – 3 hours
A course for teachers, FE staff and Charter Standard Club coaches responsible for supporting young leaders as part of Step into Sport.

Working with Teams – 6 hours
A course for Primary or non-specialist Secondary School Teachers, Level 1 coaches and Young Leaders. Provides practical ideas on how to run teams including work around team talks, team philosophy and formations.

Movement and Handling – 3 hours
A course for Primary Teachers, Level 1 coaches and Young Leaders to advise on practical ideas to develop movement and handling skills that can be used as an introduction to goalkeeping and build on fundamental movement skills.
