Further Education Work

Below are details about the work Surrey County FA does in Further Education institutions.

College intra mural / inter mural Tournaments
To develop an extensive intra-mural football programme within Colleges in Surrey which will:

a) Increase and sustain male and female participation to address the 16-19 drop off in participation
b) Provide authentic leadership and volunteering opportunities for student leaders
c) Increase inclusion within the College’s player pathway with formalised exit routes into the College BCS League and CS club football

Student Management Teams
The Student Management Team (SMT) aims to give students ownership of College football and develop links with the wider community. As a SMT member the student’s role is to work as a team to develop the football programme at their College (e.g. organise and run small sided football) and provide a collective voice for students interested in football

5-a-side lunchtime leagues
To increase the number of playing opportunities for male and female students playing recreational small sided football, through flexible leagues, college competitions and events.
SMT’s to promote, administer and develop football leagues and special events

College-Club link
The aim of the project is to provide progressive exit routes for both young leaders and players aged between 16 and 19 years of age working within the Community, CS clubs and the Surrey FA

Junior Football Leader
This one day course provides a basic introduction to leadership skills required when involved in football. It will primarily introduce 4 areas: Assisting Football Activity Sessions, An introduction to refereeing, Helping with a Team & Different Football Events – in addition to these areas, Respect, Promoting the Game & Developing the game will be embedded during the Guided Learning Hours
