Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) Scheme

The Government wants to support football clubs that deliver great work in the community in the same way they do charities.

The Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC) scheme has been created to ensure that amateur sports clubs are treated fairly and money stays within sport.

The CASC system enables many clubs to register with the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and benefit from a range of tax reliefs, including receiving money through Gift Aid and business rate relief.

The scheme will offer numerous benefits for those clubs that qualify for the initiative, such as receiving an additional 25p through Gift Aid for every £1 raised due to fundraising while a club can also receive legacies and gifts free of inheritance tax.

To register as a CASC club, among other stipulates, you must have an open membership, not pay any of your players other than travel expenses for away games and be managed by people who are classed as fit and proper.
