12 teams from all over the County including Chelsea and Fulham Football Clubs took part in the friendly festival which was designed with the intention of grading the team’s ability before the official league gets under way in September.
The festival was played in glorious spring sunshine and was an overwhelming success enjoyed immensely by all the players, officials and spectators.
“Simon Slater from Badshot Lea FC Saints commented: It’s been a fantastic day and each of my players thoroughly enjoyed the experience - especially meeting players from the other teams. We look forward to the next event in April”.
Oliver Selfe Senior Football Development Manager at the Surrey County FA added: The Surrey FA have been working closely with a number of new and already established pan disability teams from within the County to develop the new league. We have had superb support from the London Sports Forum for disabled people and the Surrey Primary League to whom the league will be partnered too. It’s great to see all the hard work planning the event come together today. The Surrey FA looks forward to helping develop new teams across the county which will enable the league to grow.
There are two more grading festivals planned between now and the end of the football season.
