FA Level 1 and Level 2 Football Coaching

Once again this summer the National Deaf Children's Society, as part of the Deaf Friendly Football Club (DFFC) project, are running official FA Level 1 and Level 2 Football Coaching courses exclusively for deaf people!

If you are interested in becoming a fully qualified football coach, or you want to progress in your coaching to Level 2 standard, but feel that FA Coaching Courses are not accessible for you, then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

FA Level 1:
Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th July 2009 9am-5pm each day.

A four day course including Basic First Aid and Child Protection modules as well as the assessment. Those that pass will receive the FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football.

The FA Tutor leading the session is a fluent BSL user.

First Aid and Child Protection modules and the final assessment will have BSL Interpreters present.

Level 1 does not require any formal experience of coaching.

FA Level 2:
Monday 27th July - Saturday 1st August 2009 9am-5pm each day.

Support Day: Saturday 24th October 2009 9am-5pm.

Assessment Weekend: Sat 9th - Sun 10th April 2010 9am-5pm each day.

A six day practical course, candidates will also receive support for completing their coursework book.

A mandatory Support Day will take place and this will include further help with completing coursework books.

A two day assessment weekend will take place in April 2010 and will include the final assessments.

Those that pass will receive the FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.

FA Tutors and Assessors are all hearing but BSL Interpreters and trained notetakers will be present throughout all the sessions and Tutors will receive Deaf Awareness training beforehand.

To attend the Level 2 course you must have passed the FA Level 1 course and have the certificate.

Both courses will be held at Doncaster College for the Deaf, Leger Way, Doncaster, DN2 6AY. Everyone attending the course has the option of staying at the College Halls of Residence for the duration of their course.

Accommodation costs will be funded by the DFFC Project and all meals will also be provided by the College.

We will not be able to pay for your travel costs to and from the College.

Important information about the course, please read!

Both the Level 1 and Level 2 courses are funded by the Deaf Friendly Football Club project (funding has kindly come from the Football Foundation, Phonak UK Ltd and Sportsmatch). Places are free for everyone who has been accepted onto the course, however, as the courses cost £200 per person for the Level 1 and £1,000 per person for Level 2 we are asking for candidates to provide us with credit card details to ensure they commit to the full course, including assessment.

FA Level 1 candidates - we require you to complete your credit card details on the course confirmation form. Should you not attend each day £25.00 will be deducted from your card at the end of the course.

FA Level 2 candidates - we require you to complete your credit card details on the course confirmation form. Should you not turn up for your assessment in April 2010 and complete the whole course £100.00 will be deducted from your card in April 2010.

Why are we doing this?

We are investing lots of money in you becoming role models to deaf children and deaf footballers nationally and we want to ensure that you commit to the full course including the assessment - you will not be penalised should you fail the course - only if you don't turn up. £1000 can provide a coaching festival for 40 deaf children and 10 further weekly coaching sessions. £200 can provide 4 weeks of coaching for 20 deaf children.

If you do not have a credit / debit card but would still like to apply please contact Rob and we will discuss alternative arrangements i.e. a cheque. We appreciate that there may be extenuating circumstances that prevent you from taking part in part or all of the course - these will be considered individually by the NDCS Sport & Leisure Activities Manager.

Places are limited to 20 candidates per course. You must be 16 or over to attend either course.

If you are interested in attending either course, please fill in the attached form and return it either by email or post. Places will be allocated on suitability but please register your interest as soon as possible. We will inform you if you are successful or not shortly.

Please email me if you have any further questions.
