Rod has lived in Molesey for the past 35 years and been a Brentford supporter all his life, playing locally at weekends. He is a Magistrate chairing on the South West London Bench on Adult and Youth panels.
During his working career Rod commenced with the Post Office as an engineer (BT) and had spells in the police and then back with BT when he finished his career as Head of Group for Broadband in London.
His involvement in the administration of football began when his son started to play some 24 years ago. He soon found out his knowledge of the Laws of the Game were poor and took up refereeing at Youth level, officiating on the Guildford, Shere & District Surrey Youth, Combined Counties, Suburban, Kingston & District, Southern Youth & Leatherhead Leagues, and also being the Secretary of his sons club for eight years.
During this time Rod also managed a team that progressed to the County Cup final, taking his coaching courses and training as a sports therapist.
He became a committee member of the Guildford, Shere & District League and their representative on the old Surrey FA Youth Council.
Rod has remained on County since that time and has served on the Representative, Referees, Challenge Trophies and General Purposes Committees as a Council member. He became the County Referee Appointments Officer in 2002 and a Director last year. Rod is currently the appointed Director for the League Representative committee.
